I think since it’s math, the teacher might be able to use that little sidetrack to discuss what it costs to live vs what a typical salary looks like. If she’s really clever, she might be able to slip in one or two of the concepts they’re working on.
You’ll need to get an advanced degree by spending your summers in grad school if you want a pay-raise. Congratulations on the Masters’ degree, we can no longer afford you.
When I returned to college in mid-or-maybe-later-life, I was (unlike my first go-round – the the need to return……)almost always ready for class. For the rare instances I wasn’t, I made sure I quickly learned each professor’s obsession (yes, they all have them), and could, with one question, do exactly what Cyn just did.
An Economics lesson might be in order too: If people don’t want to go into teaching, what does supply/demand suggest is the way to increase the number of educators?

Save that for the civics lesson, teacher. Then have them do a project on it.
Goes for firemen, policemen, nurses, and prolly a few other professions. Best projects go to the school board.

Cynthia has mastered the “Art of Distraction”……Maybe she should consider a roll in politics?

Teachers are paid what they are worth, they get the gold mine and the subs get the shaft…
