Didn’t know about the slavery thing. From Wikipedia: “In the 1850s, Morse became well known as a defender of slavery, considering it to be sanctioned by God.” He died in 1872, so he lived long enough to see slavery abolished in the U.S.
Why does his painting say “RST N”? Is that just supposed to mean that he is “ReSTiNg” in the Great Beyond?
He had to dash off because he was feeling a bit dotty…
