Has Dabney ever been to England? I don’t understand why people insist on identifying themselves as being from other countries when they were born and bred here. If you’re a third or fourth or more generation person, you are not an Italian-American or Irish-American or whatever. What’s wrong with being simply being an American (OK, US citizen)?
I’m a second generation American and it’s all I know. My ancestors are from Italy and I’ve visited a couple times, but I have no idea what it’s like to be Italian. I’m American.

Whenever they ask for your race on those questionnaires, I always put “human”.
