The followers of those great men of peace were willing to walk with those leaders into violence without offering resistance, many died. The only way peace wins is by sickening the violent of their own blood shed. It is a hard path.
Gandhi toppled an empire with his tactics because that empire was a civilized empire.
Yes, some individuals in that empire did pretty drastic things, but in general, the empire’s rule was civilized.
And what I mean by that is that the British empire didn’t just take Gandhi out back and shoot him, like the Nazis would have if they had taken over India.
As for the other discussions, either you believe in God, or Goddess, or Gods and Goddesses, or you don’t.
Personally, I believe in the Christian interpretation of God.
I have argued with others about the veracity of the Bible… after all, its a book that has been written and rewritten and interpreted and reinterpreted over and over for at least 5000 years.
But I do believe that God’s intent comes thru when it is read. And I believe that that intent is God telling us how he expects adult people to behave while living their lives, both spiritually and in everyday life.
And in my experience over the last 50 years of my life, when it comes to God, no amount of talk will convince you to change if you don’t want to change.

They have one thing in common: They have been dead for a long time, and there don’t seem to be any successors.

It’s harder to be peaceful than violent, unfortunately. Folks are looking for the easiest path these days.
