The idea that the wealthy get that way by taking from the poor is pure Karl Marx who mistook capitalism for feudalism. I had hoped Marxism would go away when Russia and China both abandoned it in favor of undiluted kleptocratic dictatorship, but it was not to be. The ideology was already too deeply embedded in the West’s psyche after over a century of dominance in the universities, the arts, and the media. And in this case, in the comics.
There was a time when great wealth grew from monopolies and prices were determined by the avarice of the robber baron. That is no longer true. Monopolies are rare, and the free market determines prices. Companies charge what people will pay, no more, no less. Same for cereal and for apartment rental.

In Germany, 10% of the income tax payers pay 90% of the overall taxes.

It’s true, to the extent that “hold up” is a term for both theft and obstruction.

It’s OK to get rich. It’s legal to be greedy. It’d be better if you recognized some responsibility to your fellow humans and planet.
