I remember once a young lady asked Captain Kirk “Are you from outer space?” and he answered, “No, I’m from Iowa. I just work in outer space.” I think it was the first Star Trek movie, and I may have gotten some of the words wrong (and the state), but I’ll always remember that line (more or less).

To me, audience reactions are a major reason to go to a theater. For example, it’s easier to laugh at gags when others are laughing too.
Family movies may be another story. They attract whiny brats.
