This has become an interesting problem in the cell phone market. The differentiation is mostly about “specsmanship” not about actual difference in function in the different classes of phones. There are some such differences around what you can do with cameras and such – but those are more specialty functions that few users actually need. So it has devolved mostly to marketing.
$60 Alcatel with the same Android OS as the $600 Samsung. Yes mine is slower (LTE vs 3/4/5G) for the extremely rare case that I use the internet off-WiFi, but it gets the job done.
