Ok, how can ceres, which is a dinky asteroid be called a planet, dwarf though it may be, but not Pluto, which has a distinctive orbit? PLUTO IS A PLANET
“I really hope I’m there when you tell him that face to face.”~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~How nice for you, that you’re so sure. Now, logic tells us — oh, never mind.
According to the definition a planet:1. Must orbit the sun2. Be spherical (more or less)3. Cleared its orbit of other objects.
According to this definition, Neptune is not a planet. Its orbit is crossed by Pluto, so it hasn’t cleared its orbit of other objects.
rAlso, Earth has a straggler that primarily orbits the sun, but kind of corkscrews around the earth’s orbit. It’s a very tiny object, but we haven’t cleared our orbit of it, so Earth isn’t a planet too.
Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and sometimes Pluto!.Or, as I was taught to remember them, “Mary’s Violet Eyes Made Jack Stay Up Nights, phooey”…
Ditto here, when you tell Allah, Ra, Vishnu, Maki-Maki, Shang Ti, Cernobog, Ama-terasu, Rongo (and this goes on arbitrarily long; see here for a list of gods) to his, her or their faces.“I contend we are both atheists, I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.”—Stephen F. Roberts
traditions change. Traditionally there were seven planets and each had a day named after it. They wandered across the sky. Sun. moon. mars. traditionally the earth was not a planet because it did not move. traditions change.
There should be a site just for religious dogmatists/fundamentalists. And their opposite numbers. Let them duke it out there. The rest of us can just read the cartoon-related spots and not have to bother with these tempests in a teapot.

If believing in god is delusional, I didn’t know I was delusional, I wonder if I can qualify for disability for having a mental illness.
