Anyhoo, the cost of a military machine may depend not on its lethality but on simply how money is spent within that machine..If people are paid $1/day, the cost may be lower than if they are paid $300/day but both may be equally able to fire a gun.
.If machinery requires many mechanics and much maintenance for every flight or fight it may be more effective or less effective than slower more rugged machinery which operates longer periods of time..If spouses are provided decent housing, education and medical care, the cost may be higher than one in which conscripts are no allowed family, and each may be equally lethal..If part of the budget is involved in helping wounded soldiers rather than simply casting them aside, that may increase cost without increasing lethality..And then there is the fact that the United States, for example, hs treaty obligations in which we promise to protect and defend people in other countries. It may not help us to protect Japan, but we know they can be real nuisances if they decide to build a war machine..Note that we are all assuming the nation mentioned in the strip is the USA even though….Still, a valid assumption as done. Not really valid description of the world of BC.
“Even since World War II the U.S. policy has been to be prepared to fight two major wars simultaneously. We’ve invented radar since then”.We had radar before WW2.Radar operator at Pearl Harbor watched the Japanese warplanes coming in.He just didn’t realize What he was seeing.Nonetheless, conflict is not a matter of minutes unless you plan on responding with nukes.I hope that’s not your war plan.
