i wouldnt be an engineer if millions of fitness-wannabes didn’t share this expectation. I did my undergrad in exercise science and left after everybody expected magic without effort. Now i’m an engineer.
There was one of those great " ’Tis the season to buy anything under the sun" stories on the news last night about how your electronic toys, including the fitness thingy, can be hacked. Who needs terrorists with guns? We have hackers.
I use mine to keep track of resting heart rate (mine tends to be slow), stairs climbed and quality of sleep. I don’t bother with calories.Maybe I’ll see if I can get one to remind me when I’ve been sitting too long. I’ll call it a “sitbit”.

I know a lot of people with those little bangle-buddies. I just don’t need one more thing to micromanage.

I really don’t want to know… Not at that price.

I would hate to own a fitbit. With my activity level, it would probably list me as dead.

I bought a cheap knockoff; the Fatbat.
puddleglum1066 almost 9 years ago
The gadget’s purpose is to help you become a bit more fit?
