It has already survived peer review. I would opine that vigorous testing is just a mechanism to allow deniers to cope with their inability to understand how it works.
Of course they are overlooking the small matter of what is called an asteroid while in space, is still considered a meteor when it hits the Earth’s atmosphere, and a meteorite once it smacks into the ground (or into any unfortunate bystanders whichever comes first)
