A few years back we were looking at travel trailers, and the salesman asked us if we were interested in a trailer with one axle or two. I asked if there was any benefit to either arrangement, and he asked me if I’d like to be changing a tire on the side of road, and God only knows where and under what weather and traffic conditions. We got two axles. Only had one flat tire, and that was discovered at the storage place when I went to pick it up. In 2017 we were trying to decide whether to park it down on the Texas Gulf Coast for the summer or sell it. We sold it about 2 months before Hurricane Harvey came along.
On The Flintstones, the spare was a hammer and chisel in the ‘trunk’. They’d find a stone close to the size of their wheel and chisel it down to the shape and put it on and be on their way.

Ugh, back in the OLD days, a wheel came with a full-sized spare

From the look of the axel, it looks like you have a good start at a skateboard there. Stony Hawk in the making.

The position of the axle and the way it’s connected is rather interesting.

From looking at that axle, it was designed by MC Escher’s ancestor.

Gonna need some training wheels too.

Looks like something out of Escher’s mind.

Next comes the seat affixed to the “axle”.

people moving around by standing with one foot on either side of a single wheel? It will never catch on.
Then a few years ago someone added an electric motor and now OneWheels are all the rage. I guess BC was just way ahead of the curve. . .
