I can totally relate to how they feel about their pet. Pets become like family members. The only thing with dogs is that you have walk them in all kinds of weather whereas with cats, you just have to keep their litter boxes changed.
Read of a woman who lived just long enough to hold her great grandchild, born in the same hospital on the same day that she died. It was baptized at her funeral. At my own church, another died at 4 am the day her teenage great grands were baptized on schedule. I expect her spirit popped over to the church before heading up.
