Mom had left the remains, wrapped in tissue in a corner of the box. So it was easy – handpaonted glass birds with feather tails. The Santa faces and little brass trumpets with tassels. Yup, I was a rough little kid when it came to the ornaments.
When nieces and nephews were young I put the breakables up top and the unbreakables (and breakables I didn’t like) lower. Any other decorations that were breakable was above their eyesite. No breakage.
One niece was here while we were decorating. i had pulled out items totally unbreakable and let her decorate the bottom of the tree.
