My own theory is that the interest in zombies is a manifestation of social problems that defy solution (homelessness, unemployment, etc.) and which take on the characteristics of the undead. If anybody wants to write a thesis on it, be my guest.
As a little girl in the late 30’s My babysitter was the movies and most that were playing were horror. I sat in the front row with my coat that I could pull over my head in the REAL scary parts. Never did like Zombie one though. No ratings then and 10 cents gave you a couple of cartoons. maybe a serial western and a SCARY one. I was raised on all the great actors that played the roles.
I was born in 43, so my movie memories are a bit later than yours…they cost 35 cents by the time I was a teenager. Double feature, newsreel, and cartoon. Drive in movie was a dollar a car. Horror movies then were much tamer than today, though.

Love it, one of the best ‘Ben’ strips in a long time. Fits right in with the seasonal premiere of ‘The Walking Dead’.

I am done with Zombies … just don’t get it. I’m a Frankenstein, Dracula and Wolfman fan.
