    In a real pinch, the roots can be dried and ground to make a substitute for coffee. Not that there is a substitute for the real thing.

    Dandelions were designed for children. No one minds if you pick them. You can pop the blooms off as a game. You can string them like a necklace or crown. You can blow the seeds. You can squeeze “milk” out of them. You can eat them. They are growing toys.

    I don’t understand the war on dandelions. They are beautiful in their own way. If they were difficult to grow, would they be more appreciated? It doesn’t matter whether you dig them up, spray them with harsh chemicals, or just let them go through their normal life cycle, they are mostly all gone by June.
