Years ago, before digital cameras, a customer of mine was complaining about having to do inventory of his tropical fish store. Having to net, count, and re-tank the fish to get a good count.
I suggested that he get a Polaroid camera, take a picture of the tanks and count the fish that way.

A week later he stopped by to thank me profusely.
Obviously, it worked.
