he seems to get really nervous when doing something for his grandfather. i’m sure if there was no pressure to be perfect he would be able to hold them properly without a problem.

Well, if you don’t use, you tend to lose it.

Our boys learned to use chopsticks by starting with the “training” chopsticks the women at the Japanese restaurants would make for them (with chopsticks, the wrapper and a rubber band). Then I found the “trainer” adapter from Japan they use for little children there. By the time they were 8-10 years old, the boys could use the chopsticks without the trainer. (No I’m not proud of them at all…)

I guess it’s better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

Me and my friend from work would go to our favorite China place for lunch and we’d walk in the door and get royal welcome with our table all set up and our glass of cold drink ready and the three items we ordered mentioned and we’d pick one and within 5 minutes it was out and ready for us. Plus we always were given extra food sticks. Which many years later I shocked the heck with the guy that worked in my office, Marty. He says to me I bet I know something you won’t have in that suitcase you carry (it was a pocketbook from the luggage department) I liked and needed big ones as I had a LOT of STUFF in it. You name the OTC med and I had it. So Marty says I need chop sticks as they forgot them with my order. I gave him an “evil smile” and went into my pocket book and it was my last pair of chop sticks ….The look on his face was just unbelievable and he told everyone in the office and that came in to visit him that day…."you are not going to believe this she had “chopsticks” in her pockebook.
