this is why I like to plug in the head phones. Holding the phone all that time gets awkward. I can listen easily and get busy with simple chores while the chatting goes on and on and on.
These days, most everyone pays the same for long distance as for local calls. I don’t know anyone who pays more. Once upon a time, long distance was expensive so those kind of calls were short and rare (at least for us “poor” folks).
My hubs thinks that if it’s long distance (even if that’s not really a thing any more) he always talks very loud. He’s hard of hearing, though, and seems to think that he needs to yell.
I stopped calling one of my friends because she insisted each time in putting her four-year-old on the phone. The child shouted incomprehensibly into the mouthpiece and had no idea who I was.

Our 2 yo granddaughter calls every day to tell us about her day. I just wish I understood her.

Best to put it on speaker phone or you’re gonna a dead ear, that Ben can join in on the fun too.

I wish my grandchildren would tell me about their day. They get to a certain age and grandparents are no longer important.

Are there still long distance charges anymore? We are VOIP home phone and mobiles. We have no long distance charges anymore.
