I am planning what I can start cutting, shredding, and building (bird feeders, insect hotels…). Flowers and other plants scream in terror and run away on their roots when they see me.
Boots at the Boar is right to a degree. COVID ultimately is the cause. More people gardening especially young and more are ordering organic. Talked with some of the leading seed companies yesterday and they said the surge in gardening started last year and is continuing to surge. Covid has disrupted the supply chain and the need to protect seed and workers. Their advise was do not horde, order only what you will realistically need and use, and share the rest with friends. Be patient. Some order may take two weeks. If a variety is not available, try a similar variety. You may find you like is just as much. The companies want to work with you and are making a concerted effort to fill all orders in a timely manner.
I like the snow scape and I like the lush greenery and flowers. It’s the in between season that I call “Mud”, that brings me down. By late March we have one last, big snow due which will melt quickly. After that it’s BROWN with grey skies until mid May. We still get frosts until June.

I’ve never been THAT keen on my garden. I just like it to be neat and tidy.

I swear they hire professional models for those seed catalogues. I’ve never seen flowers that lush in real life.

The weather, the covid, the masks all tend to damper things!

If you haven’t ordered your seeds by now, it might be too late. Many supply stores sold out in January because of all the pandemic gardens.
