whoa. You must be an insomniac. I usually have my first nap of the day around 10 am, my next around 1 pm, and then again about 5pm. Crash for the night about 10pm and get up around 6 am. the older i get, the more sleep i seem to need.
I’m reminded of the Weekend Update story: “Hugh Hefner turned 80 this week. Finally, he’s at an age where spending all day in his pajamas is considered appropriate.”
Many years ago, I did the “work from home” thing while building up my own consulting business. My wife did NOT like having me around the house during the day. She was 24 years older than I and every fiber of her being insisted that a man’s place was in the office. :)
I’ve been retired for quite awhile, but not getting dressed isn’t a possibility for me. To much to still do out of the house and I refuse to walk my dog in my PJ’s. It takes me all of 2 or 3 minutes to throw on clothes for the day which I do as my morning routine when I wake up. I also don’t wear makeup or fuss with my hair much but nobody is complaining. It’s not for everyone, but it works for me.
Husband and I are not morning people. Gradually over the last year we have gotten to the point where we go up to bed at 4 am and I am awake another hour two in bed. Alarm goes off at 1 pm and husband gets up (though often he has been awake in a panic for hours) and watches TV with earphones on and then alarm goes off again at 2 pm. I get up and take my pills and go back to bed as we have to wait an hour after taking one of the pills before eating. Around 2:30 pm we get up and get dressed and start to head downstairs to make lunch – our first meal of the day.
I gave up pjs and nightgowns years ago – why waste the money. I have almost perfectly good jeans and tee shirts which can’t be worn for clothing – tee shirts, due to a very stain or tear in it or jeans worn out at the knees. They make great pjs. So basically I get up and change from sleeping jeans/tee shirt to regular jeans/tee shirt and at night the reverse happens. Sweatshirt added if cold to either day or night clothes.

Being retired means different things to many people?

When I was working from home, there were days when I didn’t put on “real clothes” at all. Zoom meetings were another story!

I’m a lifelong bachelor, approaching age sixty-six. I sleep if and when I feel like sleeping.
Ben, if you’re in your home and everything’s been paid for, you’re my hero!

After 3 years of retirement, I only put my pants on when I have to leave the house. Then take them off when I return. TMI?

I’m not sure what the issue is, but then I’m in full retirement mode.

I often stay in my PJs all day esp in winter during a pandemic. It’s more cozy and I have no place to go anyway.
