The color photos I have from the 1970s have all faded. Meanwhile, all my family and childhood black and white photos from the 40’s-60’s are crystal clear.
One holiday my Mother and Sister-in-law, were comparing their latest rings. I noted that it’s a shame that when we have enough money to have nice rings, our hands are old.
I was a fanatic about physically tagging all my prints with negative frame numbers. I still have all the negatives from ten years of working Renaissance Faires. I plan on using them as models for artworks in my retirement. I have already reworked many of my old 5MP digital photos with “magic” (superresolution) software and gotten acceptable 11″ × 14″ prints. Unfortunately, a lot of art involves preservation and record-keeping. It’s the difference between an artist and a dilettante.

I have a photo albums of pictures I took 1994-2000 or so. After that… all pictures I was lucky not to discard are in a box. ¯\(ツ)/¯
At least they take up less space.

B&W images show details that will fade from older color images.

You’re ignoring the positive, that you’ve aged.

And now we are scanning all of those old black and white photos into digital files.

most of my B&W (more properly grey-scale, but I digress) photos from the 50s and 60s are blurry and badly composed. sigh.
