It’s a striped ball, to the dog. He wants to play catch.

We used to have some plastic ball decorations instead of glass ones. As a young kid I thought they looked cheap and wondered why we had them. My mother explained that because of war production (in the 1940s) nobody was making the normal Christmas decorations and the plastic ones were all that was available. We kept using them for many years after that.

Our dog got into the Easter decorations and ate a bunch of plastic grass and ribbon. The next day her poops were “gift wrapped”.

I get her fear. One Christmas I played around with one and severely cut my hand when I squeezed a glass ornament too hard.

When my oldest son was about three years old he used to take all the low hanging balls into the kitchen and throw them on the tile floor to watch them explode. We had to put unbreakable ornaments on the low branches.

I had the same problem with my cats destroying the ornaments at the bottom of the tree years ago. I found some fabric covered ornaments and those we placed at the bottom. The cats knew they could play with them and never bothered the rest of the nice ones above them. Win win…

Moxie is not allowed in the room with the Christmas tree unless I’m there. I’ve learned my lesson. She is an ornament thief. I don’t care about the ornaments much, but I don’t want her to get sick or swallow an ornament hanger.
