We still send traditional Christmas cards and hand-write a short greeting inside, but it seems the Shutterfly photo cards stuffed in an envelope with no writing are getting more popular. I need my wife to tell me who those people are.
As a kid I loved getting all those cards. As I got older I would have a batch to go out the Friday after Thanksgiving. This year I’ve received one and mailed two. Social media killed the Christmas Card it seems.
I still send out eight a year, even though the ones to Texas always arrive late. I spend some time picking out nice cards and coming up with a thoughtful paragraph or two. (Save the best-of-last-year summary for a letter or email. – Newsletters are not Christmasy)
Are his parents the only ones who do not take or have taken photos of the children to send to everyone know as Christmas card – even worse, received one from a married couple of themselves as they do not have children.

Why not call or text? Hallmark doesn’t make phones.

…because, taking the time to choose, write, address and mail xmas cards demonstrates one’s care for the recipient.

Calling, especially texting, seems so impersonal. And you can’t hang them on the mantle.
