We finally have someone (a company) to mow (mostly backyard as we have a semicircle driveway so we can pull out into traffic) and clear our leaves and snow.
Before husband agreed we could not do the work ourselves (took both of us together to use the mower) I had come up with a system to deal with the fall leaves. I would take the garbage pail and put in a plastic garbage bag. I would then take a snow shovel and shovel the leaves into the bag – every now and then using the shovel to break them into small pieces which more packed. When bag was full we would tie it closed and drag the garbage pail to the sidewalk and together we would turn it over on the county right of way grass at the curb and then repeat.
