“Pride and Prejudice” is my favorite book. I like the other 5 JA novels as well but P&P is my favorite. It’s so well written and JA’s use of the language to us seems brilliant, but it rather shows how dumbed down the language has gotten over 200 years. I love the way they word things. Many of the words JA uses have dropped from the vocabulary and we need to bring them back.
For years it was always on my “need to read” list.
Then the book “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” came out. I wanted to read it, but felt that I needed to read the original first.
I am glad that I did. It was a great book to read. Yeah, it’s work, because it’s written in early 1800’s English which can be a chore to read. But it’s the kind of chore I like, so that was cool. Listening to them deal with their problem of being women was difficult, and made me realize that we’re probably just as bad today in the way we expect women to live.
And yes, it made the Zombie book more fun, knowing what was supposed to be going on. The duel between Lady Catherine and Jane was spectacular!
I get this so much. I am currently re-reading “The Moon is a Harsh Mistress” for the umpteenth time in 40 years. I may have approximately 5,000 ebooks on my Kindle account, but I keep going back to familiar authors and books.
One thing for me I can watch or read something over and over again and always find something new……I have a horrible short term memory so that doesn’t hurt either….LOL!
Sometimes I reread a favorite book, but the older I get, the less I do that. I have so many books I still want to get to before I’m retired permanently.
As for TV shows, I watch many of my favorite old reruns while engaged in other activities. Shows I know forwards and backwards don’t require a lot of my attention. METV shows M*A*S*H around dinner time, so I put it on while preparing food. And at this very moment I’m watching Married . . . With Children as I sit at my computer reading the comics.
I’ve reread my favorite novel I don’t know how many times: Ella Enchanted. =)
(By the way, don’t watch the movie. Or at least, don’t associate it with the book. It’s fundamentally different, and not in a good way (in my opinion) )

Why do so many people not understand the difference between “your” and “you’re”? It’s not the least bit difficult to grasp.

I watched a few episodes of Cheers, but never really connected with it. M.A.S.H on the other hand I did enjoy.

I feel the same way about “The Sting.” Even if I know what’s coming, I enjoy watching it come together.

It’s Jane AUSTEN. A bit of research and proof reading never hurt anyone, did it???
