A friend of mine who used to be highly placed at Apple described something like this when Steve came back – he’d ask employees he ran into in the halls or elevator “what do you do for me?” – and it was a little 30 second job interview/review, the result of which could be that your day, and career at Apple could blossom, or be over. I heard about something like that. Joke was on the buyer, tho. The patents were part of a trust fund and not part of the company he bought.
