I don’t see the use of family/holiday letters. If the person who sent it couldn’t be bothered to write to you during the rest of year why bother at the end?

I was thinking the same thing myself earlier this week. Maybe I’ll write some outlandish fiction. Even though family sees everything I want them to know online or we talk on Skype, there is still something nice about a handwritten letter.

There must be people out there who appreciate receiving family xmas letters, but I never met one. Most people consider it narcissistic aggrandizement, which is what facebook is for.

I very much enjoy hearing what my friends have been doing, even though we are FB friends. Nuances can be lost, especially when people value privacy enough that they don’t post every single thing they do.
