hmm.. yup. it is manipulative. so is going shopping, so is entering a coffee shop to drink a premium coffee, so is watching TV. Unless we were caveman and every thing we did was intended to survive, most of what we do is because we expect a reward even if is not necessary. The problem is when we get in the way of others to criticize because not everybody else expect the same rewards as us.. then we became douche bags
It’s not the rewards that we mind or the difference in those rewards — it’s men making a big deal about what they want to do, operating on the guy’s schedule because he’s busy with a game or does not want to do anything else at ALL because of his activities. Do what you want, but don’t expect us to wait dinner for you or even make it for you if you won’t look up from your phone — and don’t expect more intimate interaction when and where you want it if we are just a halftime show…
then again, as they pointed out in ‘the big bang theory’, there is a problem when people use these rewards as a substitute or as compensation for not getting rewards in real life, and get hooked. They value more their virtual life than the real one.But if the problem is that somebody thinks I should like or dislike video games, I would probably say something like ‘mind your own business’

As they also did in ‘The Big Bang Theory,’ Betty should try offering similar rewards for the completion of real life tasks.
