Much as most people of their generation would hate to admit it, Daniel Boone is mostly a hero to them because there was a TV show (1964-1970) with a great theme song about him. I doubt they’d know much about him that wasn’t part of the show. They just think they know him from history. Actually, the Daniel Boone that’s their hero comes from the same source as Captain Kirk.

Also there’s a good chance you’re only going to know who this Daniel fellow is if you grew up in a certain country…

I dont think I’ve ever thought of anyone as a “hero.” People I thought were admirable, Yes – hero… Not so much.

I always liked the Daniel Boone show, and Davy Crockett ( I think both were played by Fess Parker. But my hero is (was) Tommy Douglas.
