Last week in Costco, I saw a guy with a full cart dial his wife to let her know he was ready to go…the purse in the cart started ringing!

I wear bluetooth-enabled hearing aids to which I can stream audio from my iPhone. Recently I walked out of the bathroom in the doctor’s waiting room and was continuing to listen to a podcast when I realized I didn’t have my phone with me. I searched all my pockets in a panic, then realized I must have left it in the now-occupied bathroom. After a few minutes a woman emerged with the phone in her hand and I said “That’s mine.” I’d left it sitting on top of the toilet paper dispenser.

This is what happens when you set the phone down instead of putting it in your pocket or purse. It can be a hard lesson.

That’s just one reason why I prefer the wired headsets. The other is not needing to charge the wireless.

I don’t know if there are any wireless noise canceling earbuds. In some brands at least (not wireless), you can choose the level of cancellation, which means you can let some outside noise in, and you can decide how much (that, for the Cody earbuds arc). I am not in favor of wireless earbuds at all. It means if you are running and one of those drops, you have to track back to check where it fell, and you can lose an investment of more than $100, for something that costs more, but does not offer more functionality. That, besides of doing some things you previously didn’t have to, like charging your earbuds, and if the earpieces loose charge, then you will not be able to listen. There is an obvious loose of quality, since the sound now has to change formats and change channels and transmission media many times along the way, and has to resample more times. So, what would be the advantage of these?
