I think when they got to the point of $5 more?, that would have been the time to say “just cancel the whole thing. You’ll get nothing and like it.”

I checked on a charity while they made the pitch. They kept 92%. I said don’t call again.

God bless the person who invented Caller ID!

I ask questions for as long as possible, then say no…except for computerized calls, then I’ll give it every answer except yes or no until it hangs up or switches to a real person I can say no to. Retirees are easy to amuse.

Caller ID. I don’t pick up if I don’t recognize the person/number. I figure if it’s important, they will leave a message. Otherwise, it’s spam or telemarketing. As someone who actually worked in telemarketing, I used to leave messages! LOL

Do you want to help? go and help. Never give when asked. Go where you know your contribution makes a difference. Make a difference.

Always check with Charity Navigator. Most cold call “charities” are scams.

I got one of these recently from the police widow’s fund or something like that. I told them they could send me information, but I couldn’t commit to an amount at that moment. He kept trying to get me to commit to an amount, and I kept saying I can’t commit but send me info. He eventually hung up. Still haven’t gotten anything in the mail.

Like Jackianne, many of mine come from some weird police charity. I just say, “why are you calling me I don’t have any money.” They hang up.
