It has to be better because it costs more. A not uncommon reversal in human thought.

I think there is an unconscious desire to suck on a bottle, bringing us back to the comfort we found as babies.

She might not be lying. There could be a water filter under the sink, and those can be expensive. But she’s probably lying.

just like anything else we’ve become attached to (like good health),

you don’t appreciate good water until you’ve experienced BAD water

At a con in Phoenix, they included a bottle of “City Tap Water”. Many attendees wanted extra bottles!

Baltimore has one of the best water systems in the country. There was one situation where bottled tap water was sold. Later, it was revealed as a test of gullibility. (See my comment above about lies!)

so how does it work, does the city have two separate plumbing systems, or is in the house something that turns the same water everybody gets into premium water, and we have to pay for it to somebody else. So instead of treating him like a dumb-ass and celebrating it because he ate our lies (that is, celebrate that he is so dumb he believes something like this, and we were oh so clever, or he does not make sense of it yet he accepts it because why would their parents lie about something so simple; though that means he will not trust them after a while), how about simply explain. If the tap water is good enough and tastes good enough, there is no need to pay extra for bottled water, or maybe drink tap water while inside the house and use bottled water just when going out; and if it is not for taste, then he can buy his own tap water with his allowance assuming he gets an allowance. Or maybe if he finds fine the taste of tap water, they can give him his own water bottle, and he can pour it himself whenever he wants to take it outside. That, instead of celebrating that they treat him like a dumbass, and that this is what they are teaching him

They don’t live in Vegas, one can’t drink (or use for cooking) the water there. Despite millions spent on treatment the water is terrible. Even with a whole house filter system, the water tasted terrible. So glad we moved back to the PNW. it’s 112 in Vegas today and 68 here.

You shouldn’t be drinking that Dihydrogen Monoxide (DHMO) anyway – it can have serious affects on your health!
