O.K. I guess you do use a sewing machine for quilting. Get to it Bud.

Good opportunity for you Bub! She’s a better golfer than you. Maybe you can beat her at quilting?

Become interested in taking up a hobby. Buy all the fanciest equipment. Realize it is not your medium. Fancy equipment sits in storage for years. Seen it, done it.

The sewing machine sat so long the springs weakened, and it won’t stay adjusted.

If she doesn’t use it, hang clothes on it or something.

Be sure and shop around for the lowest mortgage rates when re-financing to get said machine. Oh,and one machine will not suffice. Think 4 or 5.

Ooohhhh, slippery slope there. After the sewing machine comes the fabric, thread, patterns, quilt shows, meetings… The machine is just the beginning.

The lady golfers may just be talking quilting up in the hopes of unloading their own sewing machines on unsuspecting victims.

A quilting frame would be a better idea. Hard to believe she doesn’t have a sewing machine by now.

Just saw a quilting sewing machine in a shop: about 10 feet long, 5 feet high, and probably $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Good luck, Bud.

I’m glad she didn’t stop at “Hint, hint!” Spell it out for Bub, sister – find a link to the sewing machine her golfer friends suggest, to give to Bub. And a list of notions – rotary cutters and cutting mats, specialty rulers, and the ever popular gift certificate to the local quilt store. Or big box fabric store as a poor substitute for the real thing.(Brand new quilter here.)

I think that serger is what she really wants. From what I understand, a typical sewing machine is too lightweight for the task.

Actually went into a quilt shop this weekend because my mother in law is thinking of getting into it. Was told the best gift for a beginner is a gift card!

Have been a quilter for over 40 years. I own 9 sewing machines (3 are antique).I agree with Dani Rice. Go to a big box discount store and buy a sewing machine for around $100. The store usually has sewing/quilting kits for a reasonable amount that includes what one needs to get started. Start by cutting out squares and sewing them together. See how you like it.kmaster21 what you saw was a quilting machine. It sews the 3 layers of a quilt together and ,yeah, they are $$$$$$$$$$$I love making quilts, for me its very creative and relaxing. If I could just finish one before I get sidetracked by another idea. :)
