On a whim at Christmas time for no particular reason/some strange precognition that I wish could work in my favour when it comes to the lottery, I bought a puzzle for myself. I almost never do puzzles, and the ones I have done weren’t bigger than a couple hundred pieces. I bought one with a thousand pieces. I opened it up last week. I find it interesting that you can stare at a box of seemingly unrelated colour and shapes for hours, never find two pieces to put together, then reach in randomly to find a piece that you need that you would never have found if you had been actively looking for it. It is literally puzzling.
I recall having one puzzle where all the pieces were shaped like lizards, the tails formed the outside edge because it was circular. It took quite a while to get it right.
I play jigsaw puzzles for free online. You can select how many pieces you want and the background color. It’s pretty fun and doesn’t require me to dedicate a whole table in my home to it. (https://www.jigsawexplorer.com/)
Hope this helps anyone during this quarantine! There are a lot of beautiful photos to choose from. You can even upload your own images to play!

Last one I tried was 2000 piece; it bested me.

Since I don’t have a large enough flat surface, I do jigsaw puzzles on the computer.

You don’t need to buy new puzzles, Betty. Swap the ones you have with a friend. Then you’ll both have new ones.

Must do puzzles online if you have cats.

My mother loved puzzles and crossword puzzles. One puzzle I gave her was round, with a ‘hypnotic’ pattern on one side and all red on the other.
