I’ve somewhat gamed the system. If I get tired of seeing an ad I “hide” it on facebook. If I see a product that I might like to explore more of later, no need to bookmark it. I just click on the ad once and it keeps showing me that and other like it for weeks. By then I’ve made up my mind if I might want it or not.
but now I’m getting ads for medicine…what the heck, do they think I’m that old?
None of the algorithms used by Netflix, Youtube, Hulu, etc. get it right. They seldom recommend what I want to see. JDP Huntington Beach is right about Prime suggesting movies I can buy or rent.

Face it, Betty. The Internet knows you better than you know yourself.

At one point, ebay thought I was a 30-yo female. No idea what it says now, I buy very little through ebay any more. [IRL: 58-yo male]
