I have always set aside a specific amount of money for charitable donations…and exceeded my limit. Why? Because I want accolades for doing it? No. I have been there as a child. My mother had nine children. My father was in the RCAF (Royal Canadian Air Force) where the pay was low. We always had one meal a day, mostly two, never three. My parents were very poor but did the best they could and did without so we didn’t. I remember a day in grade two where my teacher noticed I did not have anything for lunch, so she went home and got me a sandwich and a piece of cake. I have never forgotten her generosity and compassion and I want to be like her.
If she would take the money she spends on lottery tickets and donate it to the needy, she would help more people sooner than she would on a lottery win that will probably never come.
