That was me when we got a mattress from The Brick. When I got it it was so hard I figured I’d bruise where I was lying on it. We went back to see if there was a mistake. The test mattress in the store had been lain on do many times it was actually broken in and not too “unsoft”. That process would have taken us a year! We ended up exchanging it, after only a week of nights where we’d have been as comfortable in the floor.

Instructions for our foam mattress recommended letting it air out for a day or two before sleeping on it. It has to off-gas noxious fumes.

No matter what kind of mattress, we seem to always get a 2 inch foam over pad.
