I went to college in PA and remember they would serve scrapple (that’s what they called it) on some mornings. Had no clue what it was (and I’m not very adventurous in trying new foods). I think I’ve seen something on tv to explain what it was, so it’s not so scary now. I guess if Dry made it, it should be safe so I’ll take a small piece.

Good Morning Tribe! Congratulations again to Dry! Akenta, I am doing okay. I’ve just been really wiped out tired. I’m taking it easy, napping and resting when I need to. My girls are being good with helping out. Rakkav, was inquiring about his Tribal membership over at 2 Cows. I told him to stop by here.

Cleo, actually I spelled it wrong it is scrapple as Akents said, so the letters won’t get stuck in your teeth! What it actually is, maybe you don’t want to know, is leftovers of pork scraps after butchering. Its all cooked down and cornmeall is added as well as spices like sage, thyme, etc. cooked inot a mush and made into loaves. Some people call it pan haus. Sounds disgusting but it’s actually quite good!

I don’t think anyone is supposed to tear that way, Jacklyn!

Good morning tribe. Breakfast sounds good, but it’s getting a bit late. I am trying thinly sliced london broil in a spagetti type sauce over rice for today’s major meal. It’s called ‘pull something out of the freezer, poke around the pantry and make do’ delight.

Running behind, as usual. Week started rough but ended good, temperature’s gonna be 100+ (and don’t even think about the heat index) and I have my beading group today and a role playing game (Star Trek) tomorrow. So I have to cram my computer rounds and cleaning into the next 4 hours.

Come back about 10PM EDT, I’ll be online but probably only a bit of time for important stuff. I’ll stop by long enough to drop off about 4 dozen Krispy Kreme donuts to top off the evening and an early start on breakfast for those who have to wait for DRY to be first again. :-)

As for what part of PA, it was Carlisle. Small little town in what felt like the middle of nowhere.

Just Dickinson College. Right next to the law school. Used to fly in and out of Harrisburg - first time I really understood where Three Mile Island was. Did visit Gettysburg too - did the tourist stuff.

Akenta, yeah that Three Mile Island deal was pretty scary!! Don’t know how long ago you were here, but Harrisburg Airport is pretty big now! I used to fly out of there on those little bitty dinky things that held about 10 people until we got to DC, then I was on a bigger plane into NC. I always loved Gettysburg, but I’m a big Civil War buff. It’s a nice little town, very well kept up! Even with all the tourists.

carmy, yes, who would have thought such a thing could happen here, and how it changed the course of history. I like walking the battlegrounds, it’s such a strange feeling! You can almost picture the battle!

Just had to pop out of the kitchen long enough to say the psudo-spagetti sauce has been pronounced ‘very good’ by my spouse! A jar of ragu, extra tomato sauce, a can of diced petite tomatoes and a bit of catsup. Slice the meat thinnly, brown it, saute some onion in the grease left over and simmer it all on low for at least an hour if not longer.

I surprised myself. I’m walking, but not touching the floor!

Anyway, everyone dig in and enjoy. I have rice to go with it. Have great days, good health and I have made a deposit into the Karma account here at BT. Gotta share the sudeen wealth!

While I love history, I’ve never read a lot on the Civil War. Though the book that I’m reading now that’s the part I’m on. Getting ready for another court-martial hearing for General Fremont (or least he’s on trial again, but this time it looks like his wife is too). Book is almost over and I’m hoping for a happy ending.

Dry - The incident at 3 Mile Island was completely contained, unlike Chernobyl. My hubby & I toured 3 Mile Island in 1985, thanks to his dad (work connections.).

RRAMOm, yes but YOU didn’t live here, and for the longest time no information was being released! It was a deep dark secret about what was happening, and they evacuated several neighborhoods!

Dry - Let’s not get into politics. But my husband’s family lived there during the whole time, so even if I wasn’t, they were.

Dry, make sure they check the helicopter for scuba divers. I read once about a forest fire in California. The helicopter picked up some water from a near by lake and dumped it on the fire.
