Morning all. It’s great to see everyone. It is nice to start the day with friendly but nutty people. It’s a good thing I didn’t have to work tonight or I would be a long time catching up. My computer is telling me it’s time for a nap. I’m spending nearly as much time going back and correcting all of my spelling mistakes as trying to think of something to write. I don’t have spell check as I’m usually [but not always] pretty good at catching the mistakes.

Good Morning All

After catching up on yesterdays posts, Let me just say my condolences go out to all those who have lost someone special. I lost my dad when I was 4yrs old, my older brother when he was 36 and recently (2yrs ago) my younger sister.(born same day 2 years later).

Nothing ever takes away from the loss, but the happy memories and laughter that we had together seem to get stronger with every day that goes by and every moment that I think about them.

This is why no that no matter what is wrong with my health now, as long as I am getting up in the morning and breathing, I am as happy as can be and look at every day as a Godsend that I am able to do what I can.

To all the Tribe, I am happy that I found this site and all you wonderful people. The caring that comes out on this site is tremendous.

Thanks tabby! Believe me, if it is true “you’re only as young as you feel” then I must be a lot older than what my driver’s license says I am. Shortly after Mom had her first stroke, we were talking about my family medical history. I told her that I got the bad genes from both sides of the family - arthritis from Dad - slow metabolism from hers. She said, “By the time you came along, we were scraping the bottom of the barrel!” (I’m the baby of 5 kids + some that didn’t survive until birth.) And to think, I’m probably her favorite child! (Although she never would admit she has a favorite.)

Dry - I wondered why my filter blocked Garfield today, now I have an idea whose comment might have set it off. I had to go to a different cartoon site to see today’s, and when I did, I thought of cleo. Also gave me a better idea of what someone might have said that the filter didn’t like.

hey guys pray for my friend… i just called her to check on her bc she is having a hard time she is a month pregnat and has a one year old (baby i had yesterday) and she got kicked out of her house by her mom they are not happy where they are staying at right now and they have to go somewheres to take a shower… she is sick today to top it all off. please keep her my unborn Godchild, the little one, and her husband in your prayers.

tabby - That’s okay. I know Mom meant it in a humorous way. It was rough when I was growing up, because no one gave me compliments. Once I got older, and people start looking at other talents besides beauty, athletic or musical ability, then I’ve developed a healthier self-image. God gave me a lot of natural abilities that are far more useful. One of the reasons I homeschool is that I can help them to understand that we all have gifts, but they are different, and we don’t all have the same ones. My oldest struggled with reading & spelling, but he’s very gifted with computers, and things like that. My youngest is a very good reader, has a huge vocabulary, but it took him forever to learn how to change his computer’s wallpaper & he has a terrible time with compass directions. My husband is a lot like our oldest son, and the negative socialization he experienced at school has haunted him for years. That is one great thing about being around others like this group. They can see the good in you, when family, etc. might not. My mom & dad never wanted us to get prideful, so compliments were almost unheard of in our family. Didn’t work for my oldest brother - he’s got an ego the size of Rush Limbaugh’s! But after I got married, and my parents would come to me for advice, I understood that they did value me, just didn’t express it well.

Doc, that’s not fair!! Cut me a break for goodness sake!

Dry I am hanging in there as usual. I’ve been lucky to always view low spots with optimism. I laugh a lot so that I don’t go insane worrying. It could always be worse. As long as I see my reflection in the mirror every morning and the kids are not running through me, I know I’m alive. I’m good!

Dry - You don’t think I didn’t know that I was leaving myself open for a ”go jump in the lake” gag did you? I love being the ”butt” of peoples jokes. I just ”hang”* in there and absorb the”unfettered” barbs and take everything with a ”stiff’ upper lip.

My wife’s father and his wife will be arriving shortly. I have been trying to get all my chores done. I am not sure how much time that I will have to come back here, but will do my best. I think that they will be here until Friday, but not sure. Mornings I should be able to come here and get my fix.

Much as I would love to stay and chat my little brain off, I have an agenda to plan for tonight for a certain group of people waiting to find out what my next story shall be.

My day was really good. I got my tooth fixed- a sharp edge beveled and bonded to keep it from irritating my tongue.

Then I went to my college and spent the day in the student lounge working on my paper. Since it is summer, it is really quiet and peaceful there to work.

Here, they are using jackhammers and other fun machines on the building next door. Not conducive to studying!
