am i first?

breakfast is mushroom omelettes with side order of bacon, toasted english muffins with orange marmalade, and earl grey tea. those who want some of doc’s nuclear coffee will have to ask him, since i’m too shy. for those who don’t do eggs, there’s always cold cereal and milk (Shreddies). hope everyone likes it.

marg, do you use a rifle, a shotgun or bow & arrow when hunting for rocks? Do you grill them or bake them? Fried?? Have you ever used dogs while hunting them? What’s the bag limit on them rascals? OK, seriously, what kind of rocks were you looking for & did you find any?

Marg -On a quick glance it looks like my blue eyed Siberian Husky. Is he/she your dog or just a stock picture?

JFRI, Usually I use a net. Those obsidians are very hard headed, so shooting doesn’t work. They can cut you pretty badly , so you need to wear gloves. They wild onyx are tricky because they can disguise themselves as large slabs in pretty colors, and trick you into loading a pallet full of them, and befor you know it you are charged much dinero for capturing them.

Terry, it is a blue eyed husky, but it’s not mine. it’s a picture that someone sent me.

Carmy, we saw a snake today when we were at the onyx place, but he was a non poisonous type.

JFRI, we have a small rock saw and polisher. We’re signed up for Lapidary I at the local college.

JFRI, this was plain black obsidian. It was laying all over. I’m going to tumble the smaller pieces.

This coming Monday The cast comes off, I’m so excited about that, but nervous about the ankle rehab that I’ll have to do.

JFRI, a little more on your question about the rocks. We were able to get a lot of onyx scrap, most of which we will use on the patio that my husband will be building. Then went to a place near Flagstaff where obsidian pieces were laying all over the ground, and the air was about 15 degrees cooler. Lovely.

Marg I love osidian! I have a piece. I’m a bit of an amateur rock collector myself, but more for how they look than what they are. However, I have some basic knowledge, especially for gem quality stones, as I had to study it when I worked in jewelry retail.

Ok, I’ve caught up on the posts, some understood, some not……mind is probably not where it should be.

Shika—More blood tests. Now they’re testing for the side effects of the prednisone I’m taking(ie diabetes, osteoprosis-don’t know if I spelled that right and don’t care, cholestorol, etc.). Also gave me more meds, this time for high blood pressure.(What do they expect with prednisone?!)

I’m too young for this crap. They’ve taken so much blood for tests that my toes are flat!!!!

I should have stayed here and yapped with you guys instead…….my blood pressure would have been lower maybe. lol.

Dry–He is alive and kickin’. I think he is in his late 60’s or early 70’s. Well he’s alive anyhoo, I don’t know if he can kick. LOL

Ray Stevens is 70. Gosh, it is hard to believe he is that old because most all of his videos are from one era, so he refuses to age in my mind. Dry - There was a wrestler with the same name that died, maybe that is where you grabbed onto that thought.

Don’t worry doc, for that nuclear reactor coffee pot, any cutting of the electric current releases the rods. A SCRAM rapidly (less than four seconds, by test on many reactors) releases the control rods from those motors and allows their weight and the spring to drive them into the reactor core, thus halting the nuclear reaction (by absorbing neutrons) as rapidly as possible. In boiling water reactors (BWR) the control rods are inserted up from underneath the reactor vessel. In this case a hydraulic control unit with a pressurized storage tank provides the force to rapidly insert the control rods upon any interruption of the electric current, again within four seconds.
