Well, as much as I would like to hang out here. I have to grab a paint brush to finish off this bedroom before company arrives tomorrow. After tomorrow afternoon, I am likely to be very scarce and possibly totally absent over the next week. A dear friend will be staying with us and he pretty much keeps the same schedule as I do, so posting will be difficult. Will I suffer when I can’t feed my addiction? We … shall … see. LOL

I miss a lot because I can’t read the daily posts when I’m working, so I missed most of the ‘impersonation drama’ of last week. When I caught sight of a reference to a post that might explain what was going on it was apparently flagged or pulled. I try to catch most of the first page (breakfast looks so wonderful) Anyway….I try to play nice in the sandbox. I also do not count on ‘chatting’ here. There are other applications for that which are more real time sensitive. I catch up with how people are doing.

Gonna start another comment to bring the Tribe up to date on the saga of the car vs flowerpot.

Hey Doc it’s about my lunchtime. Are there any Stouffers Stuffed Peppers in the freezer?

@ MoPar i resemble that remark! though i’m not into classic cars or cigars, i am into classic rock (among other genres) and what’s left of my hair is gray (or white, to be exact, since i used to be blond), though i did eventually cut it.

Okay, the car saga. It has been disassembled at the body shop and by running into a rather large flowerpot at between 5-10mph while making a turn I have managed to snap the inner and outer tie rods as well as breaking some type of boot. Parts are on order and the earliest it will be ready is Friday afternoon though it could be Monday or Tuesday….depending. I have at least 1/2 the deductible…and should have the balance figured out by Friday.

And things might start turning up. I thought I had lost the birthday present my spouse had got me,,,,I even checked Lost and Found at Wal-Mart….and it turns out after I confessed my crime of losing the book it was in the living room all the time. Right under my nose. Then the physical therapy for my spouse, which I was advised by the place would be approx $150/wk, turned out to be $25 per week. So hopefully things will start on the upswing from here.

Meantime I’ll take a little dip in the Karma bank to keep it going…don’t want to lose momentum.

The more I stay here, the more I thank God for finding The Tribe! And our faithful shaman, DOC!

I see I inadvertantly contributed to the troll situation. My upbringing in clergy family means that I’ve be “trained” to be polite to everyone I meet. But on-line manners are a different species, since I can’t see a person’s face to determine whether they are lying to me.

So I thank those with more experience for warning me. I AM too trusting sometimes, even in real life, and I’ve been burned.

It looks like we have all settled down here now. Thank goodness.

I haave toured Toonville yet, so maybe this is a good time to do it.

Shika, we all want to believe the best of people, and I know that I have a hard time not feeling betrayed when I find out that someone played me false. As you said, we can’t read people’s faces, or know what they’re truly thinking. I watch to see what people have to say for themselves, and if they’re interesting, and seem genuine, I’ll invite them into my world. If I don’t find them interesting, or if I don’t have a ‘good’ feeling about them, I just don’t engage them. When someone demands attention, it turns me off. Trying to manipulate others to be what you need, does not take into consideration their feelings or needs. Relationships are give and take, not all take.

Morning dcguys! The only thing I worry about you now, is when I don’t see you! :-D

Saucy, good afternoon! I’ve seen you around and you make some good comments.

Now for some fun stuff! We went hiking this morning, and had great weather. Then we went to one of the hiker’s houses for coffee afterwards. There were lots of home baked goodies and fresh fruit. I had to indulge in a cranberry and oat muffin, and a pumpkin chocolate chip cookie. We all had a good time sitting out on their deck and chatting. It was a great way to start the day. :-)

The Doctors did not tell me what I had hoped for about my ear. They are already talking alternatives. I still have about a month and a half left that it could change but with each day that goes by, the percentage of getting the hearing back drops.

Akenta - Glad to see I’m not the only one here right now. Looks like we missed the drama from last night, not that I minded. I’m still working on my rounds as well, just have a couple of tabs open, so I could see if someone showed up.

Went to the eye specialist this morning. Good news: no serious diseases. Bad news: cataracts are starting to form, but aren’t bad enough to operate yet. Result: Just get by as best as I can until things get worse, I guess.

Terry: I’m an audiologist in RL, so know where of you speak about ears and hearing. Never worked for the VA, but know many who have and they are excellent at what they do. They will do the best for you.

Guess we’ll focus on the good news then. And since you reminded me, I better make my daily deposit into the bank.

It is nice to have people who care, but no one wants to be around someone who is always complaining. Like Lonewolf - I know things could always be worse, all we have to do look around. Since both of my in-laws are having macular degeneration, I’m thankful I only have cataracts, since I know when they get bad enough, those can be fixed.

RRA: my mom has had cataracts removed from both eyes. She says she can see better than ever. Only needs glasses for reading now, rarely wears them.

Her only complaints: now she can see the dust and wrinkles she couldn’t before, and she forgets where she leaves her glasses.

Saucy - Both my parents had cataract surgeries (both eyes), but they were in their 70’s, I believe. (Dad’s deceased, and Mom’s not talking much since her strokes.) I just turned 50 last month! The eye surgeon said that if I had them done now, I’d sacrifice my close vision for my distance vision. When my husband had Lasik surgery on his eyes, that’s what happened to him, so I see the benefits of waiting longer to operate on mine.

marg - Just depends on what the problem is. Mine first started acting up when I was using a different IP away from home. Worked fine here at my house, but wouldn’t ever work there. Then the internet went down here, but when it came back up, the outgoing email wouldn’t work. (Incoming would work fine both places.) Went to the email provider’s website, and found that they had a new security code to use with Vista that I had to put in my Outlook to get it to work right. It is hard to say what your problem is, but if the rest of your internet is working, you might try looking at the troubleshooting area of your email provider’s website.

Doc is STILL not up. Let’s try this kazoo thingy…

Now, I hope my TRIBE missed me! I have been to Hades and back with Verizon! Any of you who have dealt with Verizon know what I mean! They sent me an automated voice message that said everything was fixed, the cell phones were, but the Internet wasn’t so I had to call them back at the emergency number they gave me. Figured I’d get a REAL LIVE person FOR ONCE, right? WRONG!! Had to go thru the whole rigamarow again. Finally got a real person, from India, again, but he was very nice and pleasant, just had trouble understanding him. We fixed the problem, as we were joking back and forth. I think what really bothers me most is the AUTOMATED VOICE CRAP! Jobless rate is high, why can’t they hire REAL people to answer the phones? Honestly!

Shika - That’s interesting. Guess that means that if I have problems with Vista, HP won’t give me tech support? I think we bought my laptop directly from HP, and it came with Vista on it. Not that I wanted Vista, but that’s the only OS available. I haven’t ever tried their tech support, so who knows? How long ago did they tell you this?

Shika - Just remember, cleo probably doesn’t wear clothes when painting - after all, it is easier to wash paint off skin instead of cloth.

RRAmom– When I bought my computer last year. I did have a sweety of a guy named Eric who went out of his way to do what he could, but if you get someone who doesn’t give a hoot, they’ll tell you they aren’t trained or set up to support Vista.

I haven’t had to call them in several months, maybe it’s changed.

I bought my laptop from Dell. They’ve been having some good sales.

RRAmom- We could just throw a drop sheet over him, LOL!

BTW HP gives great support for everything else, including XP.

I like them better than Microsoft for help support, although Microsoft is getting better. I like that I just call the phone # on the moniter and get a live person to talk me through what I need help with, as long as it isn’t Vista, of course.

carmy I was looking at Dell too. I forget why I didn’t get them the first time I was shopping, and then when my first computer crashed and burned on me, I bought this one in a hurry so I could start my course.

With being married to a geek, and giving birth to another one, I rarely call tech support. If one of my geeks can’t figure it out, I usually have THEM call tech support, as they understand the lingo much better than I do. I had a couple Dells before this one, and wasn’t sure I wanted to change brands. But I’ve been very happy with my Compaq.

Shika - If you have a vacuum cleaner with a hose you can hold up, vacuum your skin & hair to get as much as you can that way. Then hop in the shower to get the rest. (At least that’s how we handle it at our house, because I cut all my guys’ hairs.)

I just read the past two days of posts, and I am completely disgusted by adults (ADULTS!) who claim to call themselves TRIBE, a supposed open group of people who want to have fun. Many of you are coming across as selfish, self-centered, egotistical, holier-than-thou, mean and nasty. There are no dupicate IDs, and no one is misrepresenting themselves. If you want to form a machete swinging hate club, I suggest you do it in a private forum, not here. You have hurt many people. You WILL play nice with anyone who pops in from time to time. Since when do you think you can hijack this site, call it your own and allow no one else here?

When I was reading about the hippies the other day, I didn’t have time to say that my closest involvement with hippies was when we visited the big city in the 60’s to tour Yorkville, which was in it’s time, QUITE the place to be if you were a Hippie.
