”Dry - Mopar said he was going to turn wrenches (not wenches as you might have imagined.) My husband does most of our automotive work, and wrenches are usually turned clockwise or counterclockwise. You’d probably have to ask one of the guys how wenches are turned.”
Perhaps as in the Bulwer-Lytton contest 2005 winner: “As he stared at her ample bosom, he daydreamed of the dual Stromberg carburetors in his vintage Triumph Spitfire, highly functional yet pleasingly formed, perched prominently on top of the intake manifold, aching for experienced hands, the small knurled caps of the oil dampeners begging to be inspected and adjusted as described in chapter seven of the shop manual.” –Dan McKay, Fargo, ND
Dry - I thought you might have been kidding Mopar, but “alt 1” didn’t make a smiley face, and I didn’t bother trying to figure out my error. I figured the guys might enjoy telling you how they turn wenches.
Hi everybody!
One Doc leaves and another shows up.
I spent all morning at a hunter’s safety class. So I actually am going to get a quick nap in too. bbs
johnny - My husband & sons went through a hunter safety class several years ago. I sat through part of it, but when they started talking about cleaning the animals, etc. I couldn’t take it anymore, and left the classroom.. (I have a tendency to faint.) I figured I’d never apply for a hunting license anyway, so didn’t get the certificate. I was surprised how well our sons did at paying attention, since they were still quite young at the time. (I’m thinking maybe 7 & 10 years of age.)
I do feel a bit out of place there, as most of the students are younger, it is just like the swimming lessons I took in high school lol. But (same for the swim lessons) better late than never.
I don’t think that this class will be teaching how to clean animals, just how to use the guns safely.
How long of a class is it, johnny? It seems we went several evenings. I don’t remember how much they talked about the animals, but I know there was a lot of identification involved, so that people knew what was game and what is protected. There was a lot on the safety, and that was the primary reason we wanted our sons to go through the class. My husband has always had guns (shotguns & rifles) in the house, and even though we keep them locked up, we knew it was important for the kids to understand the proper handling & usage of firearms.
Oh yes there is a lot of identification involved. The class is 4 days. 2-4 hours a pop. I think we are taking it for that reason too, RRAmom, my dad already has a shotgun, and will likely have more soon, and I, too, will have a gun or two in my near future.
Dry, why am I a hero?
Carmy Black belts are not given out easily. One must work hard to attain one. One must learn the 7 princples of Shih Tzu. Hai Karate may be an easier path to take at first.
Yeah, you edited it! BFD! I saw it & you know what sharp little eyes I have! Life is good! Have the rum & coke sitting in a spring where it pops up out of the sand. Keeps things icy cold! Got sand all over the Blackberry but it is holding up OK.
Question, I belonged to the NFL network back when GB lost to the Giants, cancelled the sub, and went tonight to check out the sch. According to what I’m getting, they have all the preseason games and then don’t start regular games until week 10. Anybody know if that is correct, or did I miss a link?
Akenta - You may try going to The Old Wolf’s page to get brought up to speed on any of the Pibgorn story arcs at http://home.comcast.net/~ccdesan/Pibgorn/Pibgorn.html
Doc and Akenta, The artwork at PG is magnificent! And check out 9 Chickweed Lane for the storyline. The storyline at PG right now is my favorite with Lena and Igor!
I really like 9CL, though they turned off the comments and ratings. I found that comic when Edna(?) was talking with the Unicorn. Amazing storyline and also good artwork.
I found 9 Chickweed Lane before I found Pibgorn. Being Catholic, a lot of the storyline brought back many memories, although, all the nuns I knew were pretty cool! And though on 9CW they sometimes appear to be mean, if you follow the story, they are also pretty cool!
Ok boys and girls gather ‘round. It is story time. I have had a richly blessed life. I have done things many people only dream of doing. If I were called home tonight, I could not complain. I lived right on the beach in Juno Beach Florida in a cottage built in 1947. I heard the surf crashing even inside with the windows closed. I have travelled more than I can remember and I have met literally thousands of people from just about everywhere. Along the road there have been some speed bumps, and some of them were large, but the road on the other side always led to a better place. I have seen just about every classic rock band you can name. So in all of this I have dabbled in quite a few things and I spent some time as a disc jockey. I graduated from broadcasting school but quickly found out what a mean and nasty business it is and I only spent a short while on the air during my Florida years. But…I ran a mobile disc jockey business for a long time. I played all sorts of parties and did lots of wedding receptions. They were the most fun because I always got paid more and people tended to tip well and they usually didn’t get as drunk and stupid as other parties. So with all that, today’s strip is really cool to me. At most every party I would do slow music sets for people who couldn’t dance and wanted to bump and grind. This is one of my favorite slow dance songs. First appeared on the 1971 Van Morrison album, Tupelo Honey. Hope you like it too.
My favorite band of the early era (maybe ever) is CHICAGO. They are still touring but guitarist Terry Kath died in 1977 and Pete Cetera left to go solo in the 80’s and it is not quite the same, although the horn sectio which is the foundation of their sound is still intact, and keybord player/vocalist Bobby Lamm seems to be ageless. I saw them live 3 time before Terry’s death and will always cherish the memories. This is a live version of 25 or 6 to 4 in Houston recorded just months before Terry Kath died. The video is poor but the audio is just wonderful. The song is about staying up way too late so it seems to fit tonight.
MoPar I’m here, had to leave for a bit! GREAT!
It WAS great, but thanks for the reminder of days gone by and how* FREAKIN’ old I’m getting!!! Of course, you are in the same boat!! LOL!!!
Well boys and girls, it’s kinda quiet around here so I am gonna go jump in my hot tub for a little while. I need to loosen the muscles so I don’t get cramps tonight from bending over a car all day. I should make it back in time for breakfast.
HEY, DRY. REMEMBER I WANT SOME FRESH GEORGIA PEACHES WITH BREAKFAST, AND SOME FRESH SQEEZED FLORIDA ORANGE JUICE!!!
Wow, the classic rock is not quite so popular these days in among folks my age, but I still really enjoy it. Any music from a band that still has all its members alive isn’t worth listening too. That is my opinion anyways.
I’m going to call it a night as well. I had to rescue my daughter because her car broke down. She has her classes starting this Monday for college and needs her wheels. It has been a long day.

Aha! You caught me Doc! Now I have to leave again to reply to you.
Drat you, DoctorToon!
I for one like the fact that I don’t have to read a honking novel to get to the last page, LOL!
Akenta about 15 years ago
Rad I’ve only posted there once (maybe twice). Now I just lurk. Couldn’t get into the comic other than the artwork.
Shikamoo Premium Member about 15 years ago
I missed johnnydoc again.

Radical-Knight about 15 years ago
Akenta - You may try going to The Old Wolf’s page to get brought up to speed on any of the Pibgorn story arcs at http://home.comcast.net/~ccdesan/Pibgorn/Pibgorn.html
Shikamoo Premium Member about 15 years ago
LOL! Doc I thought my post would be right after you mentioned my name, but you Yappy Nuts wrote so much that my post is irrelavent.
carmy about 15 years ago
Hi Shika! Hi Akenta!
Doc, Reynolds!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Doc and Akenta, The artwork at PG is magnificent! And check out 9 Chickweed Lane for the storyline. The storyline at PG right now is my favorite with Lena and Igor!
Akenta about 15 years ago
Hi carmy, shika
doct, rad I may try that for Pibgorn when I have time to give it another try.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Well we found Shika! NOW WHERE IN THE HECK IS TERRY?
TERRY, YOU DON’T IGNORE THIS FEISY ITALIAN GIRL!! GET YOUR BUTT OVER HERE!
Akenta about 15 years ago
I really like 9CL, though they turned off the comments and ratings. I found that comic when Edna(?) was talking with the Unicorn. Amazing storyline and also good artwork.
Akenta about 15 years ago
No storms tonight, but I still need my sleep. Take care all and see you tomorrow!!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
doc my favorites are Amos and Edda! I love their love story!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Goodnight Akenta
Shikamoo Premium Member about 15 years ago
I went to the site about Pibgorn. that helps a lot. I do like the artwork, but I find it very confusing to follw the story line.
I’ve seen Joe Minotaur around the sites. Neat! He did a good job with the story arc for PB.
Shikamoo Premium Member about 15 years ago
I’ve been out all day clearing someone’s patio of acorns, maple keys and leaves after our storms here. I swept and bagged for five hours.
It feels good to help out, and the excercise did me good too.
Shikamoo Premium Member about 15 years ago
I looked at chickweed too, and it was confusing, but not as much so. Nice love match there.
Shikamoo Premium Member about 15 years ago
Oh Doc you must be feeling whacked out by now. Reynold’s Whacked. LOL
Shikamoo Premium Member about 15 years ago
Alright! You guys ask for me to show up, and then keep sending me away to check other sites.
Now you’re gone.
I’m getting ticked off.
tick, tick, tick, tick……
Shikamoo Premium Member about 15 years ago
TERRY?LONEWOLF? Are you alright?
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago

SGIBeachbum about 15 years ago
Well boys and girls, it’s kinda quiet around here so I am gonna go jump in my hot tub for a little while. I need to loosen the muscles so I don’t get cramps tonight from bending over a car all day. I should make it back in time for breakfast.
HEY, DRY. REMEMBER I WANT SOME FRESH GEORGIA PEACHES WITH BREAKFAST, AND SOME FRESH SQEEZED FLORIDA ORANGE JUICE!!!
johnnydoc5 about 15 years ago
Wow, the classic rock is not quite so popular these days in among folks my age, but I still really enjoy it. Any music from a band that still has all its members alive isn’t worth listening too. That is my opinion anyways.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Sorry about that Dry, these posts are running goofy tonight!
