We can just call the food blackened breakfast. (good thing I’ve already had mine). Yes, I’ll clean up some, move the couch directly in front of the table, label the food cajun blackend spicy (adding tobasco to everything)

Okay, much better. We just need to remember to ask someone when we got the new skylight. Gee the stars are pretty. Better leave before someone catches me here.

Wow, don’t know what happened last night, but my mind and body checked out most of the evening - as if my memory needed defragmenting or something. I went back to bed at the usual hour and stayed there several more hours. And at almost 5:00, I still feel as if I need more sleep for my head’s sake.

Rac - No, actually as soon as my eyes settle down from the pressure test I had, I’ve got a steering gear box to replace on this Mercedes from hell——o, don’t you know!

See you later, rac! Terry - I like getting either the 1st appointment of the day, or the 1st one after their lunch break for places that tend to run late. Thankfully, my doctor doesn’t overschedule, so it isn’t a problem. In fact, I’ve learned that if I show up early, I might even get seen and out the door 30 minutes after I arrive. (Depending on the type of appointment, of course.)

Terry - Can you do that all by feel, so you don’t have to see?

Rmom, the VA has a very high volume of patients everyday and I don’t think they have much choice given the few places you can go for VA treatment and appointments. I’ve been a mechanic for the better part of 30 years and I could probably do it by feel, but when something heavy slips I like to see which way I need to move! LOL

Rac, I would gladly trade the rear disc job on an 85 Jag for this gear box. They say we won the war, but I think the Germans are still getting back at us with these German automobiles! :^))

I’m thinking about taking my laptop out in the garage. Many of you get to “play” on the ‘puter when you’re at work and I feel like I am being cheated. I should try it. Since I am the boss here, I can’t yell at myself! lol

Just cover the keyboard with something like plastic wrap so you don’t have to clean it. Maybe wrap it around the entire bottom?

Terry - I do understand. One of my friends is a doctor and did residency or moonlighting (I forget which) at the VA hospital here in Wichita. My eldest brother is a partially disabled Vietnam Vet and gets all of his healthcare from the VA. I’m just not looking forward to the day that the government runs all of the healthcare. All of the efficiency of the DMV with the compassion of the IRS.

Terry - You might try to find a Ziploc bag big enough to cover it. At least it would be quicker & reusable if it doesn’t get too messy. The typing might be a bit tricky, though.

Rmom & LuvH8 - It’s not really an issue of getting the laptop dirty. I am pretty anal about keeping it clean and wouldn’t even think about touching it if my fingers are greasy or dirty. Just the hassle of disconnecting the surround sound speakers and external USB dock station for my accessories(external mouse and such).

Terry - I’m glad you’re getting good treatment. My sister (whose boyfriend is getting treatment from the VA) said that the one in Wichita got better after it got named after Bob Dole. Guess he started getting complaints about the place, and got improvements made.

The only witness that you have LuvH8 is that security camera in the corner of the ceiling! And the videos don’t appear to be in your favor!

Rmom, I am a computer nut when it comes to building mine the way I want. My main house computer has an equalizer in it among many other options along with 9 cooling fans inside. I’ve got the appropriate “Whoop-a$$” sticker on the outside of the tower. BTW it has five working bays.

It took a while to get to sleep, LuvH8, but when I did, I stayed that way.

Being that we think she would spill the coffee even if it were in a sippy cup, Grog, what do we do?!

Hmmm. I’d hate to restrict access to it, ♠Lonewolf♠, but we need to be able put it in some special approved for nuclear coffee no-spill unbreakable container, before I’d be willing to let her have another cup.

I like my meats blackened on occasion, but the vegies lightly seasoned. As for fruit, it belongs in someone else’s cup, not mine.

Hi Grog - I like my fruit - and I guess occasionally blackened if you include pineapple on grilled kabobs, but other than that, I’m not real sure about it being blackened.

Blackening is more of a Cajun thing where the meats are coated with blackening seasonings (a variety of peppers & other spices) and then cooked over high heat. I can’t see doing that to fruit - or vegetables for that matter.

Sorry - the nuc coffee I added to my hot chocolate this morning wasn’t strong enough for that kind of super power.

We’ll each climb a ladder. I’ll carry the plastic, you get the glue. We’ll push the plastic through the hole and glue the tarp to it.

Wait - leave a hole there for us to add the water and the fish, then we’ll finish sealing it off.

Cool! I’ll just leave the fish down here in this coffee pot until we are ready for them.

Dump the coffee out first, or who knows what mutations those fish will get!

Oh! Okay (Pours coffee outside on the flowers. Puts fish and new water in the pot.)

Ugh Ok, we’ll have to watch those flowers carefully now. Hope they don’t attack anyone.

Well, we probably won’t have to worry about rodents in the flowers. Hmmm…. wonder if they will take to roaming around. Oh well.

LuvH8, I’m going to have to scratch “Anything and everything chocolcate for LuvH8” from my breakfast menu. It just doesn’t react well with spilled nuclear coffee.

@LuvH8, I don’t think coffee pots should be rinsed out as a general rule–it removes all the flavor. Especially with Nuclear Coffee pots.

And especially since the rinse water would be classified as Hazardous Waste–Extreme Danger.

bmonk - watch out for the flowers roaming around where she dumped the pot to put the fish in it. Are you sure it shouldn’t be rinsed out at this point?

Only via IV until we can find you a suitable container. Maybe Doctor Toon will know where to find one, LuvH8.

Okay LuvH8. Herman comes to mind. True story - a friend at work told me about a new Life Ins. Co. that was trying to sell a policy. After looking over the terms a person bought a $10,000 policy. A year later he went to their office with his dead goldfish named Herman. After going to court they had to pay off, they hadn’t put the word ‘human’ into their policy!

So far I have tried the green tobasco on fries, chicken and pickles. Very good on each.

I very rarely eat fries, LuvH8. Too bad Wendy’s doesn’t stock green tabasco with their condiments.

Pickles? Ooooookay.

When I eat pickles, they are Kosher dills, and go great in the sandwiches I make.

I’m not crazy for the other varieties of pickes, particularly sweet pickles.

You could keep some at work for when you are going to get fast food for lunch?

Sweet pickles are weird, like pineapple on pizza or peaches with cottage cheese.

I do keep some at the office for when I bring in those frozen breakfasts. I don’t eat out at burger joints often. In fact there are no Wendy’s in Pasadena - and I refuse to go to McD’s or Burger Barf and the various other small fry chains.

Your definition of weird must be weird. That’s sounds great to me!

The only time I ate at fast food places often was when I worked at KFC.

I don’t eat pizza often, but I do like pineapple on pizza with Canadian bacon. Mmmmmmmmmm!

Doc ~ fruit and vegetables can be eaten with very little preparation.

Grog ~ My burgers and sandwhiches often end up with an entire salad on top. I am considering cutting them up and eating them with a knife and fork, because they are so messy.

Working outdoors in the warm sun is sure tiring.

I dump everything in a blender and drink my breakfest and lunch. Saves dirty dishes and a lot of time fixing one meai a day - supper.

Wow! Impressive Skylight! How come nobody told me that the Big Top was making changes? I would have loved to help.

LuvH8, when it comes to my burgers, I’m just a mustard, (kosher) dill, onion & diced jalapeno person, but the burgers are still big enough that you can use a knife & fork.

I often will have cellery, beats etc., on the side though. The salad goes in a bowl of it’s own with salad dressing before eating the burger.

Little Sister I saved the flourescent pink fish for you to name. Oh, and we might want to pick out a new rug. The couch is there for a reason.

Doc, I drank a lot of Ensure when they pull a number of my teeth

Breakfest: oatmeal, walnuts, blueberries, rassberries,blackberries, strawberries, banana, cinninum (I don;t spell well), water’ Lunch: yougurt, avacodo, orange, apple, pinapple, mango, cabbage, carrots, nutmeg, water. Most items are frozen so it makes a cold smoothe.

Cinnamon roll smoothie and vanilla ensure? It almost works.

Doc I know how you are about fruits and vegetables. Did you eat them in front of your son so as to be an example?

Those are interesting combinations Sojourner, I almost want to try, just out of curiousity.

Yeah, they’re not cheap, but at the time I had to suppliment my low calorie intake. My Doctor actually told my to track my calorie intake and try to meet a certain number daily, so it made a good additive without the chewing. I wasn’t spending a lot on food anyway.

P.S. - that’s non-fat yougert.

It’s also quick cook oatmeal and I switched to cabbage from brocholli as it keeps better. I don’t have to shop often.

One of the residents out back of my place has a fire going on his patio. A nice little bon fire too. If it were me, that fire would be a little too close to the house for my liking. It put that pit out in the middle of the yard or something.

Breakfest is really good! Lunch has taken some work to taste better. I actually use gocamole as avacodo added the wrong taste and texture (it was also hard to keep fresh, frozen packets of gocamole (or howere it is spelled) keep well), pinapple really helped improved the taste. Will start adding the mango tomorrow, got it today.

For supper I make a large pot of rice and seperate it into seperate containers for each meal, have homade bread or rolls, cooked vegs. and fish, sometimes chicken brest or lean pork cooked with fresh grown herbs. Also am growing indoor tomatoes, sometimes I add them to the lunch smoothy or have with supper. Also eat olives and all oil I cook with is olive oil. Later this week will try making scones with olive oil instead if butter and see what happens.

When I find a source for elk I will try it. My neuologist told me not to eat beef.

Oh, I didn’t know elk was lower in cholestral (I don’t think that is right either). We get some from my uncles who hunt.

I don’t have any teams. I supported the Penguins just because of my dancing penguin. I do have a couple of ducks so I guess I can do the ducks too.

Good evening, tribe! Sojourner - How does deer meat compare for cholesterol? It seems in our area it would easier to obtain than elk. Just this morning, we saw a momma & baby deer in our back yard. I went & got the camera, so got a picture. The picture isn’t great, because the mom was mostly hidden by the sumac at that point, and the baby was following her.

It figures LuvH8. You were scarce last night, and now it’s Ladywolf’s turn.

Hey Rmom. I’ve seen deer only once - up at the Grand Canyon. Unfortunately my pictures did not turn out. They were taken from the tour bus and were too fuzzy.

I know, it is sad! Hopefully I will be able to be on tomorrow night as well.

Are you about to head to bed Grog?

Grog - I hate having to take pictures from a moving vehicle, especially if you have to take it through the glass, too. I don’t take a long time to set up a shot, but I like to take a few seconds, which is just impossible in a moving vehicle. I’ll post the deer pic on photobucket. It isn’t great, but most of the time I see deer is when we’re driving, or they are running, so there’s no time to grab the camera. I’ll also post the rabbit & snake picture I mentioned the other day. Now THAT one is really blurry - through the glass, with my bifocals, and the zoom wasn’t quite strong enough.

I’m giving myself 10 more minutes, LuvH8, but I am getting tired, which is good. Most of the time (on week-days) I don’t.

From info I got at our state fair there are several elk ranches in my state and the meat is supposed to be better I think. Buffalo is also good but expensive.

Rmom, the bus wasn’t moving, but the window was closed. At the time, I didn’t want to scare the deer off with the sound of me opeining the window. I should have gone back outside. Hindsight’s 20-20.

Hi, Luv! I was so tired after finishing my Algebra test today, I took a nap. I hope I’ll be able to fall asleep quickly tonight. I’ve got to get up & around reasonably early tomorrow for an appointment. Not at the crack-of-dawn early, but I’ve got to be on the road around 9am, since it will take about an hour to drive there.

Rmom the deer question is very low on cholesterol. My brother-in-law would actually envy you seeing a deer that close. He likes to hunt and goes by the law for hunting season. He told us a story about one time he was driving on this hwy and there was a group of deer standing by the road he brushed by them and he could have sworn he heard the deer laughing at him because he couldn’t touch them not deer hunting season he was frustrated by that. I have not gone back on the comments just the ending. I found Doc some of his nuclear coffee and trying to sleep with that. I may not get to check go comics Thurs full day for medical on my husband. I am done yea! with the therapist but have to continue on my own my shoulder has improve a lot. Finish with the Dr. after the 4th of July good way to celebrate.

Kab - A couple of years ago, my hubby was driving on Hwy 77, near the K-15 intersection, early in the morning, while it was still dark. He said there was a car in front of him, and I think one approaching. I don’t remember if it was just one or more deer, but it was standing right on the dotted line between the two lanes of traffic whizzing by at 65 mph. He didn’t see it until it was by his mirror! Later, he & I were driving on Hwy 166 to Ark City, and he had to swerve to avoid deer a couple of times. Once, there were two deer, and he tried to go between them. Missed the biggest one, and the smaller one ran into the side of our car, but didn’t do more than take the dust off of it.

I know it’s late it’s 10pm here. And Thurs is his test and thanks for the luck will need it. I just read a little of page 7 on smoothies read delicious. For me on pizza I have to have very lean and no cheese.

Rmom has the water gone done in your area. Cowskin creek west of Wichita rose and I have to travel McCarther road it got so close to the road surface but has gone down. I guess I am getting more tired then I thought having trouble thinking and typing.

Luv - Yep, I got the CT scan appointment. My bedtime varies. Whenever my hubby’s home, it is usually earlier, because he gets up at 4 or 5am for work, so he needs to get to bed on the early side. And he won’t go unless I go too. I do try to start getting off before 10pm, so I can everything done & in bed by 11pm when he’s not here. But with the nap, I figured I could stay up just a little longer.

Rmom I can understand about the deer. Never know what those animals will do. People in cars have been killed or cars damaged. One deer some time ago and a different truck hit the front of my husband truck did damaged to the grill then years later my daughter was driving home at 11pm from working at Walmart and a deer hit her car and took her headlight out scarred her. Our appoint is at 5:30am Thurs have to leave the house at 5am or a little after gonna be a long day. Well I had better call it quites. I enjoy visting with you Rmom and everyone else at BT.

Kab - I haven’t looked at the river out near me lately - it floods so often, that it isn’t too big of a deal, since it is mostly farm land. None of the major roads are closed around me due to flooding, either, although probably some of the dirt roads could be. Good night, Kab!
