    Hi, Grog!

Had the wrong photo linked, but that’s been corrected now. As I may have mentioned before, I used the action figures for Deuce (WWE wrestler), Alex Pettyfer (playing Alex Rider) and Ken (from Street Fighter) as models for my characters Slate Rockmire, Chris Alan Starbright and Hilo Whitemoon, respectively. (However, Chris Alan and his general appearance were already fixed in my mind before I ever saw Alex Pettyfer on film.)

Whew! I finally passed a major stage of review of the MS. of a proposed book featuring these characters and others. My co-author is taking her turn at reviewing the epic, as I speak.

    Yes, Grog, it’s the DROOB!

Spend enough years away from eating pork and shellfish and when you encounter them by accident, your body wonders why it ever took them up in the first place. I used to love pork chops, bacon (American or Canadian) and such like when I was a child. Not now.

Of course, should I ever be captured by Borneo cannibals that choice in diet might make me tastier than the average white man to them, but that’s the risk I take… however remote…

Doctor Toon in your area where you stock has for Halloween candy has prices on chocolate gone up yet.? National news has prices skyrocket. Where we used to live 3 years ago for Halloween this small town would have football going same night as Halloween, which meant less kids coming each year. Now we live in a bigger neighborhood no HS but elementary and Middle school but gained more children.

Lew - I’ll take free tomatoes. They’re always good for using in chili or something. Zucchini on the other hand isn’t good for anything in my opinion. My mom used to grate it up and stick it in all sorts of things to get rid of it. Sort of like “magical” brownies, but without the special effects.

Hi, Wolfie! How’s your day going? I just posted on PB last night one more quilt and the pictures from the restaurant I ate at last week with my hubby.

Sojo - After last week when the weather alarm woke us up at 3am with an Amber Alert, I changed that alarm (in my hubby’s trailer) to the type of setting you have. With his alarm going off at 5am, he doesn’t need to be woke up in the middle of the night for anything that doesn’t require him to evacuate. I thought tornado season was over for here! The ones here in the house still make the sound, but not for the weekly tests.

In High School I thought of how the signals could be selectively set and wondered why they didn’t (another invention idea I never pursued). In the 80’s at work 3ed shift the alarm went of 13 times between mid-night and 5:00 a.m. Not once was there even a severe T-storm in our county. How would you like to have an operation by a surgeon kept awake all night for nothing? No wonder they weren’t used much until now.

    Wolfie - Congrats!

Sojo - We’ve got one of those early alarms in the basement. I keep it in our hidey hole under the stairs, so if our internet goes out, we can still have some idea of what the weather is doing. I try to keep a battery-powered AM/FM radio there, too, but like having both options available. I am glad they’ve changed them so they can be more selective. I wish they had them so you could pick what type of notification for which type of alert. Flash flood watches & warnings, the light & display would be enough for me all of the time. The alarm in our bedroom I would have it only sound for tornado warnings. The one in our kitchen/main living area can sound for all alerts the counties I select. In other words, I’m glad they’ve improved them, but there’s still more room left for tweeking.

    See you later, Wolfie!

Sojo - You need to tell the senior citizens at your church that you’ll take unwanted zucchini. You may get more than you want, but I’m guessing there will be a few gardeners at least who will supply you. That’s one thing we missed when we left one church. There was a guy who grew tomatoes for shows, and he had to have them in “matched sets” - I can’t remember how many in the set of tomatoes, but he had to have matching ones - same size, shape, etc. So he had lots and lots of tomato plants, and would bring his surplus to church. My husband really enjoyed them. I only like tomatoes once they’re “adulterated” - salsa, tomato soup, sauces, etc., and I have to be careful about the seeds. So I was happy that my hubby could have some tasty tomatoes for free and no work on my part!

Sojo - Sounds like the storms are north of us right now, but pretty close. Golf ball sized hail. My sons are in Andover right now, so far, so good. At least I got hold of them to tell them about the tornado watch, and I’m sure the college will herd them if there’s danger. I hope the van they took doesn’t get damaged bad - we only have liability on it.

My alarm lets you select which alerts and counties you want except tornado warnings for your county. If you sleept in a basement you might be interested in flood warnings but not interested in tornado warnings. I quess that bugs me because it makes me fell like I’m too stupid to know what I want and the goverenment has to decide for me.

I have a small local radar shot that updates every few minutes on my desktop like a gadget. Awhile back if you were in a store and a tornado warning went off they could force you to stay there. When people threatened to sue the law was changed to allow those who wanted to leave to be able to.

This storm could get pretty nasty for Sojo, and maybe Kab. There’s been funnel clouds on the radar, but not developed enough to call a tornado warning. Lots of hail reports - baseball to quarter sized. I think it will all stay north of me, but our van that my sons took to school might get some hail damage.

Wolfie - While we were building this house, we lived in a trailer house. Only once did I go to the park’s shelter, but between the torrential rain & spiders, it wasn’t pleasant. My hubby’s on a business trip right now, but if a bad storm is headed toward him when he’s in the trailer, he drives up to his workplace. He’s got keys, so he can always get in. There isn’t a basement there, but at least the walls are cement, and he can go into the restroom or another small interior room. (His office has a window.)

I headed down to the basement when I heard my area included. According to the map, the tornado warning ends just west of where I’m at, but it is still a little too close to relax. My oldest son just called from school’s parking lot, I had to tell him to go insie the building and wait for his brother to get out of his class. (Their classes are in buildings about a mile apart.) Then he is to call me before they leave so I can tell them if it is safe to leave.

LuvH8: I live in historic New England, the land of steady habits, where the worst we have to fear is a few nor’easters and the occasional hurricane.

(and OK maybe a blizzard now and then)

    No earthquakes.

Hello all we are safe. Local news showed damage left by monster stom. The Sojourner Rmom I don’t know if you watch local news at 10pm that mobile home court that received damage off of S W street not far from us. Hubby had computer for awhile. When laptop gets ready I will be able to access better. Now others around neighborhoods and other towns have clean up. Surrounding areas flooded due to flooding rain. I won’t be on to much longer need to shower, then catch upon text book. By Friday hope to start next chapter in next book. Class on-line starts Monday.

Just popping in to let you all know we’re safe. We lost power for over 3 hours, which is why I couldn’t check in before. My sons made it home okay - but they didn’t think to take raincoats or umbrellas out of the van with them, so they got drenched. No broken windows that I can tell, and I didn’t go outside to see what other damage there might be.

Looks like a tornado hit Winfield, according to channel 12. That’s where my hubby & I eat every weekend. The reports are still coming in, but I think it was east of downtown. The people who are already there for the Bluegrass Festival got some high winds, but sounds like other than some awnings, they are okay on the campgrounds.

Wow I hope not to see that again to soon. We have a bi-level so no real haven from tornadoes. I’ll unfortunty be up for awhile need to read. Prepare for On-line college.
