Hi, friends!
I’m still alive, but not so well. Between chest pains & extremely high blood pressure (which is a first for me) and low heart rate, I ended up having a heart cath yesterday. They found a 50% blockage in my LAD artery.
Out of the hospital last evening. I’m heading out to my primary care doctor now.
Thanks for being my friends!
Good morning all. Wow SRmom I will keep you in my thoughts. I hope all goes well. When my own hubby went in he had no chest pains or HBP. And I know what you are talking about to. I guess that some Medical Language book has stayed with me.
I’m gnawing on my own breakfast (basically an Italian turkey and pasta and stir-fried veggies casserole), but if you can give me the China Syndrome Special (half Nuclear Coffee, half CocoMocha), that’ll do just fine.
(remember, pour the DTWFNC into the unobtanium mug FIRST!)
Must have been my deprived/depraved childhood, but I can’t shop without buying for others first. Of course I may buy them a bottle of aspirin before going to the electronics section for me.
Been busy catching up with all the things that showed up while I was away–and more keeps pouring in! Now I know why I don’t like to go anywhere.
(((((SRMom)))))–good thing they caught it in time and could treat it. At least I’ve heard (and seen) that you really do feel much better once the circulation is restored.
Now just behave (diet and exercise and such-like) and they will get you in good shape!
Thanks for all the well wishes!
Didn’t get to see my doctor, but he called me on his lunch hour, so at least I got my questions answered, and answered his (as best we could).
I’m just still in shock at going from being able to do work, to this condition! But anytime I even think about overdoing it, my body quickly reminds me that I can’t right now.
Kind of funny - for my 50th birthday, I received as a gag gift, a cane that belonged to my late Dad. It actually has been a big help last night & today!
Due to my health problems, my hubby took off work yesterday & today. Thankfully, it was quiet at work, so he wasn’t pestered via his Blackberry either.
I had a lot of shopping to do today, since yesterday was payday. New experience having to have my husband assist me, while I drove an electric scooter around. I think we’ll both be glad when I can do my grocery shopping without his help again!
Went to Menard’s east, as it is their grand opening week, and lots of things on sale. I hope I get well enough now to use some of the stuff we bought! Not too busy, and lots of helpful staff.
Hi, bmonk & Sojo!Wolfie - The ER nurse said I was the jolliest patient she’d seen (at least in a long while). I told her that I’ve learned that being grouchy doesn’t help anyone, or make things better. I told them things they needed to know (like when my chest pains hurt more), but I saw no reason to “bite anyone’s head off”.
Wolfie - I guess I learned that lesson in high school when I was working at Mickey D’s. No one enjoys being the recipient of someone’s tirade. Treat them nice, and they might go out of their way for you. Treat them like trash, and they’ll return the “favor” (probably in a more sneaky fashion, though). Even if someone is an idiot, throwing a fit won’t increase their intelligence or competency.
bmonk - Spring is finally here, too! Which makes my getting ill doubly worse, as I was looking forward to working outside. (First spring since we’ve lived here that I wasn’t homeschooling.)
We’re back from our tromp through the Park……Yellowstone, that is. What a trip! Absolutely fantastic weather, and lots of baby bison. Some of them look like they were only about a week old. but, boy do they grow fast! This is our favorite time of year in Yellowstone. No wild flowers yet, too much snow on the ground. Just so happy to be there once again. :)))
Good evening all. SRmom glad you are feeling a little better, though surprise you got out to do anything. When my hubby got his stint in soon be a year the first 24 or two days he stayed home.
Well all NY isn’t the only place something with zoo’s can happen. Public school here in ICT had a field trip, I heard on radio at work, a 1st grade boy did something very stupid.
Thanks, MeBeGood, Serena, M’Lady & Kab!Kab - No stent, because the blockage is only at 50%. Guess they don’t put those in until 70% or so. Somehow (I was never good in internal anatomy, I can faint from reading a book) my heart has compensated for the blockage, and if I understand correctly, made a natural bypass.
My chest pains aren’t as intense as they were while I was in the hospital, but I’m still having some pressure off & on. I think I’m also going to have to have my GI track inspected, since I started having more heartburn in the last month or so, could account for the chest pains, I guess.
Sounds like I’m going to have a lot of poking, prodding and pictures taken in the upcoming weeks. I don’t remember ever saying I wanted to become a pincushion when I grew up.
MeBeGood - Since I don’t have a large screen HDTV, hopefully that will keep the excitement level down to what I can handle.
Good Evening, Tribeandall
Well it’s been a rather unusual day and I think I just might want to try to put an end to it as quickly as possible.
My day started around 2:30 AM when I woke up, went to the bathroom, and went back to bed. Most of that time was spent wide awake until I went into a light R.E.M. sleep and had myself a very weird dream that fortunately I can no longer recall. I looked at the clock and it was 3:30 AM. From that moment on my eyes were shut wide open. I get up and read the comics and was beginning to get tired again at about 4:30. It figures – I’m getting up in 30 minutes. Shower time!
After a busy morning of putting the final touches on my forecast explanations and reconciling my capital, I had decided to go to lunch early, since my boss left early for the day already. I decided to go to the DQ just down the road from where I work so that I could continue on to the mall afterward and quickly look for something for my bathroom.
When I get to the DQ, I see this Pasadena Police pickup truck with an empty trailer that might normally house lawn mowers and other lawn care equipment, but was empty. I’d never eaten there with a police presence before, but there was the added bonus of dining with a couple residents of the Pasadena jail. These guys were big and looked about twice the size of their porky police escorts.
I tried to carry on as though it was business as usually though I sat in a place where I could be assured that no one was going to get behind me. I also ate a tad less than I would normally eat, having lost my appetite for some strange reason. That was a first for me anywhere.
Then there was the ride home which at 3 in the afternoon, should have lasted about 25-35 minutes. The parking lot formed about a mile before the belt-way which is really unusual on a normal day leaving at a normal time. I crawled past the belt-way and decided that, after seeing or hearing about no accident, it was time to take the service road. Even though I was making better time than highway speeds I still couldn’t get home much faster. It took me an hour and 20 minutes. Still no news of an accident.
Grog - Sounds like a long, unusual day. At least it didn’t get too exciting.
On the day I went to the hospital, my best friend got hit from the rear, and it totaled her van. If it ain’t one thing, it’s sumptin’ else.
Hi, Rmom It was unusual. So was the day I got rear-ended in Edmonton. My car was far from totalled, however, it happened about 2 weeks before I was to move to Dallas. It was a leased vehicle that I needed to get repaired before moving….and getting a refund on my contract, which under the circumstances, I’m actually surprised I got. Usually, when you lease a vehicle and terminate the contract earlier than the lease commitment, they stick you with at least the outstanding balance of the term.
Grog - Glad everything, although late, ie okay. When I traveled to large cities and would run into heavy traffic I’d get off to take side roads which I would soon find out I shouldn’t of. Never did learn to stay on the main throughfares. Did see some interesting places though. I’m glad I never had far to go to work except when I had my sales route. Hope next week goes better.
SRmom when you read this that 70% is not quite correct. Hubby didn’t even have 50% only 1” small vein in from of heart and heart specialist did put a stint or stint in. I out know. Now we severely watch our diet. At least I and hubby does to a point no fried and ground turkey in a lot of foods. He had no high BP or chest pains he just went to heart specialist for a routine heart cardiovascular test.
Sojo the service road was running smoother for quite some distance. When I got down to my local mall, I decided to follow the Bay Area Blvd, rather than get mack on the highway, which still wasn’t up to speed at that point. It must be a really big crowd headed to Galveston this week-end.
Staying on the highway is good especially when you don’t know the city well. Doing otherwise may be a good way to get lost - as I did a couple weeks before moving to Dallas. But then I got lost on the highways, too.
