In Ontario,Canada grade 8 and less get only July and August off whereas high schoolers after final exams in mid April to early May would have the rest of May then, June and August as summer vacation.
Homeschooling is hardly a year round vacation! (Although, there may be people claiming to homeschool, who are not really educating their children.) Tutoring one-on-one takes less instructional time than trying to teach a classroom of children, which provides time to do things that can be perceived by others as recreation. Not all education has to be done sitting at a desk.
