I think Skip’s named Skip because “he skips” onto another project before he barely finishes the previous project.
As for the tunnel to the Earth’s core, he might either A) get roasted like a luau pig when he gets there, B) might make it to China instead, C) might even go onto to a different project, or D) school would already start the day he’s about a foot (0.30480 meters) to the core.
