I watched my cat stalk a squirrel in our front yard. With cat like patience, she lay low in the grass, stayed carefully upwind, and crept nearer inch by inch – until she was within pouncing distance of the squirrel going about his business.
As her hind legs began to quiver for the spring, the squirrel suddenly turned around, looked right at her fearlessly, and you could almost hear him say, “Make my day!” Her hind legs stopped quivering, and she very slowly backed away, her eyes always on the squirrel – until she was a safe distance away.
As she got up to walk away, she gave me a dirty look, and I could almost hear her say, “You didn’t see that.”
