Many years ago we had a brand new officer who one day went to the door of a very old woman on some trivial matter. She opened the door, looked at him and dropped dead at his feet. Speechless doesn’t come close to what he was. And then he had to endure people writing fake homicide reports about him. And for the rest of his career, he was never allowed to forget “the old woman he killed.”
Yesterday my therapy dog and I went to our local hospital’s vaccine clinic to help the young children now getting their vaccines. It was exhausting, but oh so rewarding! One family said they had driven 45 minutes to get to our clinic just for the dogs. Almost all the kids, 5-11, were very brave and admitted it was ’nothing." I encouraged them to look at my dog and pet her while the nurses did the deed. We signed up for a second time in December.
